LYRICS:

Me & Mine

Stop a minute, feast your ears on my story / I got something everybody should know If you find a diamond in the rough / Stop looking 'cause you found enough Don't waste your time, I found out long ago Me and mine well we aren't without problems / I call her up on the telephone She hung up once, she hung up twice / She never takes any of my advice She can't hear nobody's but her own She says I forget what's important / My eyes are fine but she says I can't see But I remember the day that we first met / Ever since then I ain't had a regret Nothing could be any more important to me / You can chase a rainbow lookin' for a pot of gold Or wish upon a million stars but remember you've been told A wish ain't gonna make it better / She's got to know you'll never regret her Let her have some of your thoughts to hold Across the sky I thought I saw her staring / Daydreaming of things she thought should be I ask her what she's thinking of / Smiling, she says, "My true love" She sometimes makes me wonder if it's me Just when I thought the end was coming / I packed my bags and I closed up my suitcase She said, "Honey, please don't go" / I said, "Baby, I don't know" But how can I leave with tears upon her face You might think that we are never happy / And maybe we need a little space But the time we spend when we're alone / Makes me glad to sit at home She can always put a smile on my face You can chase a rainbow lookin' for a pot of gold Or wish upon a million stars but remember you've been told A wish ain't gonna make it better / She's got to know you'll never regret her Let her have some of your thoughts to hold

Prayer

I walked alone as the night slowly passed me / Step after step I found my way home Wandering inside I hoped I would find her / Waiting for me but I was alone She said to me that she wanted to love me / I said that I wasn't able to love And so she left with a glimmer in her eye / She walked away with the stars up above She says a little prayer for me / She needs a prayer of her own And I've found my love for her / I wish that she'd come back home Words were exchanged without thoughts of their meaning / I wish that I could take back what I said I know that we would be better together / For without her I'd be better off dead She makes me smile when I feel like crying / She helps me cope with the hope that she gives And so I wait for the day that I'll see her / Returning to me with her love that still lives She says a little prayer for me / She needs a prayer of her own And I've found my love for her / I wish that she'd come back home Thinking of all the times we nearly parted / Wondering if everything she said was true Remembering the days when she asked if I loved her / I used to sigh and reply I'll try to And so I watched as she walked away slowly / Hoping she'd turn so her face I could see Not since that day have our souls been together / Forever I'll sit waiting so patiently She says a little prayer for me / She needs a prayer of her own And I've found my love for her / I wish that she'd come back home

This Later

You told me that you'd tell me later / How to make this great love greater I can't stand the anticipation / All you're causing is aggravation in me...in me You keep me guessing, keep me waiting / Disturb me when I'm concentrating I can't keep this up forever / Amusement for yourself and never for me...for me I have seen all the many things you do I used to think that my endeavor / Just might make our love forever But it's a game that you've been winning / It's been apparent from the beginning to me...to me Do you hear the words I'm saying / I'm telling you I'm sick of playing No more lies, no more deception / I don't want your false affection for me...for me I have seen all the many things you do

The Devil

So much is going on / Nobody notices the devil So many thoughts are strong / Nobody's head is very level There will come a time when everyone will find That they don't know who they've been talkin' to And you're never sure who he will lure He comes out of the night don't try to fight Gotta protect yourself / The devil's right behind you Doesn't matter where you go / He will always find you If you're a lucky one when things are said and done He'll let you be he'll let you go free But if his mood is bad you better just be glad If it's not you that he's talkin to So much has gone on / Nobody noticed the Devil So many thoughts were strong / Nobody's head was very level There will come a time when everyone will find That they don't know who they've been talkin' to And you're never sure who he has lured He comes out of the night, don't try to fight Don't try to fight the devil, don't try to fight him, no Don't try to fight the devil, don't try to fight him no, oh no, oh no

Take That Train

I'm gonna take that train all the way back home I'm gonna take that train all the way back home Don't wanna find my life's dreams alone I'm gonna take that train all the way back home I realize that life flies right by you I want you to come with me to the bayou You can't get where I want to go by train You can't get where I want to go by train I'm gonna take that train all the way back home I'm gonna take that train all the way back home Don't wanna find my life's dreams alone I'm gonna take that train all the way back home Come with me you'll never be unhappy If I lie I hope to die now surely You'll take that train all the way back home I'll go with you all the way back home

Cornbread-Head

Cornbread in the morning / Cornbread at night I eat cornbread with my baby / When the moments right I pack cornbread for my trips across the country of the nation called the U.S.A. I get so hungry I gotta open up the butter and devour it all in a day Cornbread in the morning / Cornbread at night My friends call me a cornbread-head / Then they laugh at me all night

Freak Murders

In the dessert there's a rotting carcass / Sort-of looks a little like Emelda Marcos A rotting Filipino in the sand near Reno / Left there by a traveling freak show circus Investigators comb the sea less beaches / In the sand the body's hand still reaches Left handed woman, couple fingers missing / A policeman shuts off his radio hissing Clues point to where the freaks were going / A cop scratches his chin as if he's all knowing No one understands the circumstances / Why would any group take such chances They closed down the casinos, The waters flooded Reno / Now where will they go to do their victory dances A.P.B. for a bearded lady / Frog boy, thin man, Elvis, or anyone shady They never liked the fingerless Pilipino / She'd drive behind the freaks in her El Camino She'd shout out nasty things to the undeserving / In and out of traffic she'd be swerving She's the one who gathered the freaks together / Made them put on a show in any weather Then they started plotting, Now she's here rotting / The sun's turning her skin into leather Now let's dance

Beginning of the End

This is the beginning of the end /I've worked so hard to come this far, my friend Yes you know I'm full of lies / And I'm the one that you'll despise As soon as you come to realize / It's the truth that I bend I've sold used cars for a quarter of my life / I've got seventeen kids, but none by my wife I've never met none of those kids of mine / But I heard that they're all doin' fine Except the one that's doin' time / For carrying a knife I may not tell the truth everyday / And it's true you gotta watch what I say But in the end I will get by / And hopefully I won't have to lie To redeem my soul before I die / I will find a way

Sweet Eyes

It's only two more days until I see her again Ever since she's been gone you wouldn't believe how I've been My heart stopped beating when she left me alone There ain't no cupboard let alone a bone But only two more days is all I have to wait Until I see my baby's sweet eyes I miss her long brown hair that smells so good I'd kiss her ruby red lips, she knows I would if I could The clock keeps ticking the time 'till she's home She's so close 'cause the attraction has grown But only two more days is all I have to wait Until I see my baby's sweet eyes What a wonderful feeling she gives to me She loves to please me constantly I love her long tall legs and her eyes so green She's my beauty queen You know she's clever 'cause she changes with the weather I love my baby's mind It takes a pretty smart girl to change my world I love my baby's mind And only two more days is all I have to wait To get behind my baby's sweet eyes I can't wait two days for her to come back Tomorrow I may have a heart attack What if my heart stops beating before she gets home Then I'll spend eternity all alone So I'm goin' 'cause I'm grievin' so I'm leavin' to see My baby's sweet eyes, my baby's sweet eyes My baby's sweet eyes, my baby's sweet eyes

Ghosts in the Attic

There's ghosts in my attic / Seal the windows, lock the doors There's ghosts in my attic / I put them there not to bother me no more (no more) They haunted me when they were livin' / But they won't haunt me no more Old bones fill my closet / Old problems that bothered me Old bones fill my closet / Things that were avoided most carefully (most carefully) But those ghosts all know my secrets / And they just won't let me be (please let me be) I've silenced all those spirits / All the demons in my past I've silenced all those spirits / Because you know bad habits never last (they never last) I've laid those ghosts to rest now / And their memory's fading fast (so very fast)

Pasadena King

I went from here to there, not knowing where / I would find the Pasadena King I was wondering can you help me? I gotta know what I'm doing here with my childish fears / I gotta find out about What the Pasadena King has in plan for me / Can you help me? I wanna know more about the Pasadena King / And how I got his blessing And I understand he's a fictional man / With a non-real wife But he sure helps out my surreal life I think you know it never snows and the sun don't ever shine The Pasadena King is forever trapped in the crevasses of my mind I'll take you here to there to show you where / You can find the Pasadena King And if you're wondering can he help me? I'll say you're gonna be pretty shocked to find deep in your mind That the Pasadena King has a different name than the one he used for me He has helped me And I'm sure that he will help you, too / It's all that he can do, he will ease your mind And it's understood that if he could / He'd help you more than he probably should Pasadena King, Pasadena King

Hurricane

Sitting in the middle of a hurricane in spring Makes me stop and wonder why do I do these things Far away from problems, I came back for them again I'll leave them way behind me soon, I just don't know when I feel the winds start blowing at ninety miles an hour Try to get away but I can't move against its power It pushes me in places that I just don't want to go How am I to fight a wind when I can't see it blow? I felt when the storm looked for someone to blame And now I'm standing in a hurricane Trees bent over backwards, Mother Nature's having fun People getting panicked while I sit and watch them run Forced to leave or fight the storm, I can't make up my mind Maybe if I choose to stay, who knows what I will find All of my possessions are packed tidily away Maybe when the storm has passed, I'll get to them someday My sister says I'm crazy for standing here so long Said, "Leave before it kills you," I sure hope she's wrong I felt when the storm looked for someone to blame And now I'm standing in a hurricane The storm has now subsided, another day chalked up for loss Another place demolished, another path to cross I re-collect my senses and rejuvenate my strength I survey the damage done, ten football fields in length Pretending nothing happened, I'll go on from day to day Watching for next time that the storm will blow my way Easiest solution is for me to run from town But I think I'm gonna stay until the next one blows me down I felt when the storm looked for someone to blame And now I'm standing in a hurricane

Saint Sandy

Saint Sandy left me behind / Without even saying good-by Out of all of the things that she did for me / This was the first time she made me cry Saint Sandy left me behind / Knowing I was alone She will never see what I will be / Now that I have grown Saint Sandy left me behind / After all she did for me I hope she knew I loved her / And I'm grateful eternally Saint Sandy left me behind / To look back on things I've done She took me in when I couldn't crawl / And taught me how to run Saint Sandy left me behind / To show me what I should do When my time has come and gone / I'll leave like she did, too Saint Sandy left me behind / After all she did for me I hope she knew I loved her / And I'm grateful eternally Saint Sandy
