LYRICS:
Only Love You -
We started having trouble when another man came through / I came home
from work and found him trying on my shoes / I haven’t been the same,
love since you left without a trace / Then you stole my albums like
a slap across my face / I got to find you ‘cause I got a mind to / Maybe
blind you / But I’m resigned to / Only love you / You left a note that
said you might be back again someday / You took the kitchen table and
left me a TV tray / I haven’t been the same, love without you I’ve been
so lost / I’d pay any price to get you back but I can’t afford the cost
/ I got to find you ‘cause I got a mind to / Maybe blind you / But I’m
resigned to / Only love you / I did not expect you to stick around me
for so long / I use to wish you’d leave me now I’m sad that you are
gone / I haven’t been the same, love you probably figured that by now
/ I use to get the milk for free, but I lost the whole damn cow / I
got to find you ‘cause I got a mind to / Maybe blind you / But I’m resigned
to / Only love you, only love you
Zachariah -
You’ll find the old man down by the river / He’ll fish ‘till there’s
no fish to catch / He pretends to avenge Zachariah / Who cast his line
& met his match / A trout popped out of the water / And grabbed Zachariah
by the throat / Dove down into the depths of the river / And left behind
nothing but his coat / Zachariah was eaten by a fish / Zachariah had
one dying wish / Zachariah left a note in the pocket of his coat but
we think it was his grocery list / It said, “Aluminum foil and some
butter, spice it up with some Old Bay” / He’s gonna catch that trout
and turn it inside out / At least he was until his fateful day / We
can only guess the trout was thinking / Revenge must be somewhere near
the top / Zachariah put the hook through the fishes’ face / And a hooked
trout never stops / Zachariah was eaten by a fish / Zachariah had one
dying wish / Zachariah left a note in the pocket of his coat but we
think it was his grocery list / So the old man pretends to avenge him
/ By making all the fishes extinct / That malicious fish will make a
delicious dish / If he doesn’t let his sanity sink
Dreams -
Every night I tend to see the same scene / When I close my eyes and
start to dream / When all the burdens of my day are gone / Subconscious
starts to carry on / I think about a day long ago / Grandfather sat
with me when I was four / He pushed a toy car down into my hand / Said,
play hard before you become a man / Soon I will age to one hundred and
three / And come to find a grand-baby version of me / I can’t see myself
in such a tiny size / I know I’ll have to wipe my eyes / Don’t you have
pride in your dreams? / Don’t you have pride in your dreams? / Don’t
you have pride in your dreams? / Dreams are the best of things / Talk
with my friends about what used to be / What used to take forever now
moves so quickly / When we’d all pile in the back of my car / I never
thought that I would make it this far / If the old me from way back
when / Could see me now trying to put a positive spin / On the world
I used to view as dark and grey, I wonder if things would’ve still turned
out this way / So I try to put a smile on my face / I hope to make the
world a better place / News only shows death and misery / Makes it so
hard to stay happy / Don’t you have pride in your dreams? / Don’t you
have pride in your dreams? / Don’t you have pride in your dreams? /
Dreams are the best of things
Mistaken Identity -
I walked down my street, the other night / Passed by a house, heard
a ferocious fight / Some gal ran out, and said, “Mister, can you help
me please?” / Before I spoke, I felt a hand on my back / Spun me around,
he began an attack / Hit me so hard, I collapsed down to my knees /
I wouldn’t have been there, the chances are good / But it’s been my
lot in life to be somewhat misunderstood / I stopped trying to fight
because I don’t know what might happen to me, it’s always / Just another
case in mistaken identity / Went to the pub, shot some pool with my
friend / I sunk the eight, then the cops busted in / They asked my buddy,
“Do you own a blue Chevrolet?” / My buddy looked at me, with guilt in
his eyes / Turned toward the officer, out came his lies / My so-called-friend
pointed at me and said, “He sold it to me today” / I wouldn’t have been
there, the chances are good / But it’s been my lot in life to be somewhat
misunderstood / I stopped trying to fight because I don’t know what
might happen to me, it’s always just another case in mistaken identity
/ I came home, after my night in jail / Went to the box, I got my mail
/ It said, “You may have won a Million Dollar Prize!” / I shook my head,
I walked inside / Kicked off my shoes, my brain was fried / Ed McMahon
danced through my head as I closed my eyes / I wouldn’t have been there,
the chances are good / But it’s been my lot in life to be somewhat misunderstood
/ I stopped trying to fight because I don’t know what might happen to
me, it’s always just another case in mistaken identity
The Sun Will Rise Again -
St. Bernard may have lost its home / It learned to swim through toxic
foam / Ain’t got no place to stay / Didn’t mean to swim away / Now it
barely stands on its own / Things may look grim / But the sun will rise
again / Yes, the sun will rise again / A few stormy nights did the trick
/ Streets were lined with mud three foot thick / Magnolia’s back in
bloom / The roots got to have their room / Water FEMA gave might make
you sick / Tough times now and then / But the sun will rise again /
Yes, the sun will rise again / Firefighters help both day and night
/ Reporters in boats show the world the sight / Lost everything they
own / Lost the house they used to call a home / They begin to rebuild
with all their might / You’ll never lose your friends / And the sun
will rise again / Yes, the sun will rise again
Mismatched & Disheveled -
I can’t get it together, Lord knows I’ve tried / ome days I’m amazed
that I’m still alive / Six in the morning’s too early for me / To try
to figure what kind of day it’s gonna be / Hit the snooze with all my
might, boy, I’m in trouble / Wish I could sleep at night, but I’m mismatched
& disheveled / I got dressed this morning, running late as usual / Jumped
in my car, got stuck behind a bus, taking the kids to school / Wanted
to stop to get a cup coffee / Knew if I was late they’d probably fire
me / Can’t afford to lose my job, boy, I’m in trouble / Wish I weren’t
such a slob, I’m mismatched & disheveled / Oh, Great Spirit, it’s to
you I pray / Please send some sensibilities my way / And if you are
looking down on me / Sorry about the mess, I didn’t expect company /
I pulled up to the building, where I sit and waste away / I got out,
put my key in the lock, but it wouldn’t turn today / Maybe my prayers
had finally been answered / I wasn’t even sure if they’d ever been heard
/ If I don’t take this as a sign, boy, I’m in trouble / Wish I had a
little more time, I’m mismatched & disheveled / Mismatched & disheveled
/ Mismatched & disheveled
Sweet Pea -
Sweet pea, you don’t do nothing for me / Keep strutting your stuff for
all the guys to see / Your lipstick is just a bit too thick / You trying
to turn me on or are you turning a trick / Maybe you’re just a lovely
lady / In a little too deep in something little bit shady / Hot stuff
looking for who’s tough / You keep batting your eyes but enough is enough
/ Sweet Pea, don’t you come around me / You ain’t nothing but trouble,
bringing me misery / Sweet Pea, I won’t tell you again / It shouldn’t
take forever, Time to put yourself together with your lipstick and your
leather and you kind of look like sin / It’s about time you give me
a sign / I thought I had till eight now it’s a quarter of nine / Get
back, cut me some slack / My clothes are starting to look like a potato
sack / Too hot, your engine’s almost shot / Your seat is comfortable
but your shocks are not / You’re gonna break down while you’re driving
around / But there’s always more mechanics in other towns / Sweet Pea,
don’t you come around me / You ain’t nothing but trouble, bringing me
misery / Sweet Pea, I won’t tell you again / It shouldn’t take forever,
Time to put yourself together with your lipstick and your leather and
you kind of look like sin
Fool’s Gold -
Where has my baby gone? Where has my baby gone? Where has my baby gone?
I’ve searched for her / But it’s getting old / It’s like fool’s gold
/ It draws you in and makes you feel alright / But when you get through
the night / You find it’s kind of useless / I told all of my friends
what I found last night / Though it’s pretty and bright / It still just
amounts to fools gold, fools gold / Where has my lover gone? Where has
my lover gone? Where has my lover gone? I’ve searched for her / But
it’s getting old / It’s like fool’s gold / It draws you in and makes
you feel alright / But when you get through the night / You find it’s
kind of worthless / I told all of my friends what I found last night
/ Though it’s pretty and bright / It still just amounts to fools gold,
fools gold
Late To Your Own Funeral -
You’re getting ready, my nerves are unsteady, I know / You started at
seven, now it’s half past eleven, let’s go / If being late became a
sin, Think the devil did you in / Gonna give it to you straight, you’d
be late to your own funeral / It took an hour for you to shower and
scrub / Could you start movin’, so we can go groove in the club / If
being late was a disease, I think you might die with ease / Gonna give
it to you straight, you’d be late to your own funeral / You’re too late,
too slow, you missed out, can’t go downtown / Your hair is all messed
up, so why wear your dress-up gown / If being late became a crime, I
think you might do some time / Gonna give it to you straight, you’d
be late to your own funeral
Happiness -
Happiness is a state of mind, and my mind is in a state of wonder /
Wonder if I will ever find, what casts the shadow I stand under / I
think maybe I could smile one day, if I could only hear my baby say
/ I love you, only you, yes I do, yes I do now I love you / Happiness
would overtake my soul, keep me above the clouds ‘till I get old / In
my heart I keep a special place, that beats double time when I see her
face / Happiness can set you free, but freedom can be expensive / Don’t
be afraid to pay the fee, the rewards will be extensive / Priceless
diamonds in the sky at night, makes me remember everything’s alright
/ I love you, only you, yes I do, yes I do now I love you / Happiness
might have its numbered days, unless she tells me in so many ways /
Her heart keeps beating just for me, and she is the only one I see /
Happiness has come again, and it’s taken the form of my lover / I never
want our time to end, she’s the one for me and no other / All my sadness
gone without a trace, every time I see her pretty face, she says / I
love you, only you, yes I do, yes I do now I love you / Happiness has
taken over my life, since she decided to become my wife / My is heart
beating stronger everyday, because of the things that I hear her say
/ I love you, I need you, I want you, only you
Wonder What Are The Words -
Wonder what are the words / Wonder what is the way / Wonder how I could
tell you / Wonder what I would say / I believe what you tell me / You’ve
given me no reason to doubt / We’ve got so much yet between us / Let’s
find out what it’s about / Would I be wrong to love / Would I be wrong
to cry / Would you need me tomorrow / Or would you try to get by / I
think we were together / Long before we’d begun / You say I should have
known better / Maybe someday we can find a way / To say all the things
you know we should say / But up until then right through the end / You
know you’ll still be my friend / That’s why I still try to keep our
time as ours and I / Wonder what are the words / Wonder what is the
way / Wonder how I could tell you / Wonder what I would say / I believe
what you tell me / You’ve given me no reason to doubt / We’ve got our
whole lives together / Let’s find out what it’s about
My Time Is Up -
So they lowered my box down into the ground / Covered it with dirt,
you know what they found? / I’ve got more life dead than I did alive
/ Going to the place I succeed when I try / I’m going up, up, up through
the blue / I’m looking down, down, down on all of you / I’m going up,
up, up through the blue / I’m looking down, down, down on all of you
/ I had to make my eternal bed, just so I could clear my head / I hope
it doesn’t take as long for you / I’m going up, up, up through the blue
/ I’m looking down, down, down on all of you / They closed my box and
put me down, I once was lost but now I’m found / I hope it doesn’t take
as long for you / I’m going up, up, up through the blue / I’m looking
down, down, down on all of you / I let my last years slip away, now
I dancing everyday / I hope it doesn’t take as long for you / I’m going
up, up, up through the blue / I’m looking down, down, down on all of
you / I took too long to right my wrongs, now all I’ve got is to sing
my song / I hope it doesn’t take as long for you
